Tu Coque, Latin for 'you too', is the technical name for accusing the pot of calling the kettle black. This argument style has face validity, because at first glance it appears taht the opponent is caught in an inconsistency. However, we should understand that hypocricy is different than inconsistency. If I'm lecturing about the hazards of speeding, it is pretty irrelevant that I might have several outstanding tickets. It doesn't undermine the sensibility of my argument.
The term 'ad hominem' is Latin for 'about the person'. This class of fallacy refers to comments about the opponent that are intended to either convince the opponent to stop arguing, or to convince the audience to stop listening to his arguments.
